Lateral Flow Assay (LFA) have enjoyed a broad acceptance as an aid in the large field of analysis and diagnostics for years.

Their easy useability, their low price and their fast evaluability are, however, in contrast to their worse limits of detection compared to other analytical methods (ELISA, HPLC, MS) and the increasing demand for multi-parameter methods.

The q-Flow project aims to obtain a novel LFT system that contains the advantages of the LFTs, but increases the sensitivity to the level of ELISAs and allowing multiparameter analysis through the combination of semiconductor nanoparticles – so-called quantum dots – and enzymatic signal amplification.

Lateral Flow Assay (LFA) based point of care (POC) devices are rapidly growing strategies for qualitative and quantitative analysis.

A big advantage over other detection tests are the short time till the result is visible (<30 min) and the low costs As detection particle liposomes were established and compared to usually used colloidal gold particles.

The major difference of liposomes compared to colloidal gold is, that liposomes consist of a phospholipid bilayer forming a hollow space, where aqueous solution can be encapsulated.

Different detection methods can be applied by encapsulating (1) varying concentrations of sulforhodamine B (SRB) (colorimetric and fluorescent) or (2) m-caboxy luminol (chemiluminescent).

The aim of this work was to improve sensitivity with different detection methods of liposomes and the implementation of a successful drying method including stability studies.

Microcoat adds Quanterix´s SP-X to its portfolio of ultra-sensitive Immunoassays

We proudly announce that we have expanded our ultra-sensitive immunoassay portfolio by the brand-new Quanterix SP-X® Analyzer.

Once again, Microcoat is one of the first laboratories in Europe to offer an advanced new technology to their customers.

The Quanterix SP-X® Imaging and Analysis System is a complete benchtop system that offers true multiplex detection at both acute and baseline levels. Up to 10 parameters can be analyzed with superior sensitivity in this ECL based assay format with a low sample volume of only 25 µL. SP-X combines Simoa ultra-sensitive assay development and optimization with up to 10-plex multiplexing scale and flexibility to combine the analytes of interest.
